Active Infrared Sensor Technology
Active Infrared sensors consist of infrared diodes which constantly transmit and measure the reflection levels of invisible infrared light. When installed active infrared sensors take a snap shot of the reflection levels in the detection zone, any change in the properties of the reflected wave will indicate that a person or object is in the detection area causing the sensor relay to trip.

Hotron Active Infrared sensors are characterised by their ease of installation, well defined rectangular and accurately adjustable detection area, ability to detect motion and static presence and high immunity to the negative effects of external influences such as reflections and fluorescent light . Some Hotron Infrared sensors have the ability to memorise but ignore door motion.

Microwave Sensor Technology
Microwave technology sensors operate on the Doppler principle meaning that they register and compare the frequency of transmitted and reflected signals. People and objects activate the motion detector as they move through the monitored zone causing the emitted and received frequencies to no longer be identical. The difference between the frequencies causes the sensor relay to activate.

If there is no movement in the monitored zone, the transmitted and received frequencies remain the same and the person or object will not be detected.

Hotron Microwave sensors are characterised by their large elliptical detection area, ability to detect motion only, detection of uni or bi-directional traffic and the ability to activate the swing side of swing doors without detecting door movement.

Ultrasonic Sensor Technology
Ultrasonic sensing devices constantly emit inaudible sound waves and simultaneously scan for reflected waves which are reflected at a preset speed corresponding to the height that the sensor is installed. If a soundwave is reflected at a faster speed it indicates that someone has entered the detection zone causing the sensor relay to trip. Hotron Ultrasonic sensors are characterised by their conical detection area, ability to detect motion and static presence and their ability to memorise and ignore door motion.
